Jacksonville, Florida – A repeat sex offender has been handed a severe punishment for his despicable crimes against a minor. Jerry Michael Moore, 42, from Indiana, was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison, with a lifetime of supervised release, after pleading guilty on June 12, 2025.
Moore’s monstrous actions were uncovered when he returned to the United States from a cruise aboard the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) Cruise Terminal. He had previously been convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor in 2007 in Indiana and was searched upon his return. Officers discovered Moore possessed a cellphone containing multiple surreptitious video files of a child, stored in a hidden folder.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Moore had used hidden cameras to secretly record the child, including through a crawl space to access a shower. Additional recordings were found on his device. His cold and calculating admission to law enforcement only confirmed the depth of his depravity.
This harrowing case was meticulously investigated by United States Customs and Border Protection Officers and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Ashley Washington prosecuted the case with vigor.
The sentence handed down today is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The Department of Justice has been relentless in its pursuit of justice for victims and their families.
