Brian Holland, Aggravated Sexual Abuse, Florida 2018

A federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging Brian Holland, a 23-year-old Jacksonville man, with aggravated sexual abuse by force.

Holland is accused of sexually abusing a passenger-victim on February 27, 2018, while aboard a Carnival cruise ship based out of Jacksonville.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

According to the indictment and court records, Holland faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment in federal prison, and a potential lifetime of supervision if convicted.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case, and it is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Ashley Washington and Jay Taylor.

Holland’s alleged crime took place on a Carnival cruise ship, which was based out of Jacksonville at the time. The incident occurred in 2018, but it wasn’t until now that Holland has been formally charged.

The indictment serves as a formal charge against Holland, and it does not necessarily mean that he will be convicted of the crime. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will now proceed with the case, and a trial date has not been set.

Brian Holland is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
