Washington – A relentless spree of robberies along the Metropolitan Branch Trail in Washington D.C. has come to a close as Jalique Wiseman, 20, was sentenced today to 27 years in prison.
The defendant, Wiseman, pleaded guilty on May 16, 2025, to six counts of armed robbery and three counts of robbery. Superior Court Judge Jennifer Di Toro imposed a sentence of five years for each armed robbery and four years for each robbery, to be served consecutively, resulting in a total of 27 years’ incarceration. Wiseman will also face a subsequent three-year term of supervised release.
According to government evidence, Wiseman committed these heinous acts between October 2, 2023, and November 23, 2023. He targeted multiple individuals on the trail, using physical violence or threats of firearms to seize their cell phones and other personal belongings. Not content with simply robbing his victims, Wiseman also demanded their passcodes and used this information to access their financial accounts, transferring funds into accounts he controlled.
Wiseman was apprehended by law enforcement on November 29, 2023, and has been in custody ever since. The sentencing of Wiseman concludes a case that has drawn the attention of both the Metropolitan Police Department and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department joined U.S. Attorney Pirro in announcing the sentence, commending the efforts of the investigators who brought this case to justice. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kraig Ahalt was also recognized for his role in prosecuting the defendant.
