Jamar Kenya Turner, Cocaine Possession, Pennsylvania 2020

A Beaver Falls man has been hit with serious federal narcotics charges after a grand jury returned a two-count indictment against him. Jamar Kenya Turner, 46, is accused of violating federal laws related to cocaine possession.

The indictment alleges that on or about October 9, 2020, Turner possessed with intent to distribute a quantity of a mixture and substance containing cocaine. The indictment further alleges that, on or about January 4, 2021, Turner unlawfully possessed with the intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base, in the form commonly known as crack.

The charges against Turner carry severe penalties, including a maximum total sentence of not more than 20 years, a fine not to exceed $5,000,000 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Brendan J. McKenna is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.

An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Turner’s case is a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Western Pennsylvania. The region has seen its fair share of high-profile cases in recent years, and law enforcement agencies continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle these organizations.

As the investigation into Turner’s activities continues, it remains to be seen what the outcome will be. One thing is certain, however: the consequences of cocaine possession are severe and can have a lasting impact on individuals and communities.
