James Donald Jacola, Receiving Child Pornography, Florida 2016

Jacksonville, FL – In a disturbing case of child exploitation, James Donald Jacola, a 54-year-old resident of Green Cove Springs, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for receiving images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children over the internet.

According to court documents, Jacola used the pseudonym ‘mooncalf’ to access a website containing child pornography. On March 10, 2016, a search warrant was executed at Jacola’s residence, and FBI agents seized two computers. Forensic analysis revealed that the computers contained at least 3 videos and 784 images of child pornography, including a video of a toddler being molested.

Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Jacola must also serve a 10-year term of supervised release, register as a sex offender, and forfeit his computer equipment.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

Project Safe Childhood has brought numerous high-profile cases to justice, and this latest conviction serves as a reminder of the importance of continued efforts to combat child exploitation. The initiative’s success is a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors who work tirelessly to protect vulnerable children.

Jacola’s sentence is a stark reminder of the serious consequences of engaging in child pornography activity. The use of such material can have devastating effects on victims, and those who engage in this behavior must be held accountable.

The public is urged to remain vigilant in reporting suspicious activity to the authorities. By working together, we can create a safer environment for children and prevent further victimization.
