Martin Lindner, a 52-year-old Augusta man, has been sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for possessing child pornography. In February 2025, Lindner received child porn, including videos and images, depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Using his home computer, Lindner would receive the material via a peer-to-peer file sharing software. The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Court Judge J. Randal Hall in the Southern District of Georgia. Lindner pleaded guilty to Receipt of Child Pornography.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, and prosecuted by Southern District of Georgia Assistant U.S. Attorney Tara M. Lyons. U.S. Attorney Margaret E. “Meg” Heap announced the sentence, stating that protecting children from predators is one of their highest priorities.
Lindner was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $66,500 and will serve 15 years of supervised release after his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to identify and prosecute individuals who engage in heinous crimes against minors.
According to Matthew Ploskunak, Supervisory Senior Special Agent for the Augusta office of FBI Atlanta, the receipt of child pornography not only harms the young victims portrayed in those images but also fuels a heinous market. The FBI remains committed to working with law enforcement partners to hold accountable those who engage in these reprehensible offenses.
