The federal indictment, filed on July 15, charges the couple with one count of felony murder by child abuse, one count of cruelty to children in the first degree, and multiple counts of animal cruelty. The indictment also includes charges of making false statements and animal crushing. The couple’s initial court appearances are pending.

According to the indictment, the couple’s three dogs, a female dachshund, a male hound, and a female doberman, were severely malnourished and neglected. On January 28, members of the CID executed a search warrant at the couple’s residence, where they found the two surviving dogs and the deceased dachshund in a trash barrel outside the home.

The case is being prosecuted by the US Attorney’s Office, and the couple faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted. The investigation is ongoing, and the public is urged to come forward with any information related to the case.
