A 43-year-old Bunch, Oklahoma resident has been sentenced to two years of probation for illegally possessing firearms and ammunition. James Michael Young, Jr., was found guilty of one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.
According to investigators, Young knowingly possessed 244 firearms and 40 rounds of ammunition on October 29, 2024. This was after having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.
The charge arose from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. On October 1, 2025, Young pleaded guilty to the charge in federal district court.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, Senior Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan E. Soverly represented the United States.
Young’s sentence of two years of probation is a result of his guilty plea. It is unclear what led to Young’s initial conviction or how he was able to possess the large amount of firearms and ammunition.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of gun safety and the consequences of violating federal laws regarding firearms possession.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced Young’s sentencing. No further information is available at this time.
