MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – A severe blow was struck in the ongoing battle against firearms violence when Steve Earl Perry Jr, 26, from Okmulgee, Oklahoma, pled guilty to Felon in Possession of Firearm & Ammunition. This charge stems from a crime punishable by imprisonment exceeding one year, in clear violation of federal law.
Perry admitted to knowingly possessing a firearm that was shipped and transported across state lines. The investigation leading to his conviction was a collaborative effort between the District 25 District Attorney’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Judge Steven P. Shreder of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee accepted Perry’s plea and has ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. As a result of his illegal actions, Perry faces up to 10 years imprisonment and a fine not exceeding $250,000.
Assistant United States Attorney Dean Burris represented the United States during the legal proceedings. Perry will remain in custody until his sentencing hearing is scheduled.
