Towanda Man Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison for Armed Robbery
A Towanda man was sentenced to 7 years in federal prison for robbing an Arkansas City business at gunpoint, U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said.
The incident occurred on February 11, 2016, when Jason A. Farner, 32, of Towanda, Kan., brandished a .380 caliber handgun during a robbery at Advance America in Arkansas City, Kan.
Farner pleaded guilty to one count of brandishing a firearm during a commercial robbery, admitting to the crime in his plea. He was arrested later that day after a deputy with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office stopped him for a traffic violation.
U.S. Attorney Tom Beall commended the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Metzger for their work on the case.
Jason A. Farner was sentenced to 7 years in federal prison for the crime.
