Methamphetamine Trafficking Plagues Middletown
A 46-year-old Middletown resident has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine in the city.
JASON FABEL, of Middletown, was sentenced on July 15, 2024, by U.S. District Judge Omar A. Williams in Hartford following a guilty plea to possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, Fabel was arrested on March 16, 2022, after a search of his Middletown residence by the DEA’s Hartford Task Force and Middletown Police Department uncovered approximately 100 grams of methamphetamine, a quantity of ketamine, narcotics paraphernalia, and a loaded 9mm handgun.
On April 27, 2023, Fabel was arrested for violating conditions of his pretrial release while he was out on bond and awaiting trial. At the time of his arrest, he possessed approximately 24 grams of methamphetamine, six grams of ketamine, and 10 grams of MDMA (“ecstasy”).
The DEA’s Hartford Task Force includes personnel from the DEA Hartford Resident Office, the Connecticut State Police, and the Bristol, Hartford, East Hartford, Enfield, Manchester, New Britain, Rocky Hill, Wethersfield, and Windsor Locks Police Departments.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan Keefe.
FABEL will serve 70 months of imprisonment, followed by four years of supervised release.
This case highlights the ongoing struggle against methamphetamine trafficking in Middletown and surrounding areas, with the DEA’s Hartford Task Force working tirelessly to disrupt the supply chain and bring those responsible to justice.
