Violent Carjacking Spree Brings 19-Year Sentence for Javon Roach
WASHINGTON – In a shocking display of brazen violence, Javon Roach, 20, has been sentenced to 228 months in federal prison for his role in a string of armed carjackings and robberies that terrorized 17 victims in Washington DC.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the sentence, which was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras. Roach pleaded guilty to three counts of carjacking and two counts of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence on March 6, 2025.
The spree, which took place between March 6 and March 28, 2023, culminated in a high-speed chase and a violent confrontation with police in Fairfax County on March 30, 2023. Roach was arrested after a lengthy pursuit.
According to court documents, Roach admitted to committing six armed carjackings and five armed robberies during the spree. The victims were targeted at random, with some being struck by Roach and his co-conspirators. In one incident, a male victim was hit seven times in the head before being carjacked.
Roach and his co-defendant, Andre Rushing, were responsible for the majority of the crimes. They were often armed with loaded firearms and would demand money, phones, and cars from their victims.
The investigation into Roach’s crimes was a collaborative effort between local and federal law enforcement agencies. U.S. Attorney Pirro praised the work of the investigators, saying that their efforts brought a violent individual to justice.
Roach will serve an additional five years of supervised release after his prison sentence. His co-defendant, Andre Rushing, is still awaiting trial.
