South Bend Man Sentenced for Cocaine Sale
A 34-year-old South Bend man has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for distributing cocaine, announced U.S. Attorney Kirsch.
Jeffery Henderson, a resident of South Bend, Indiana, was found guilty of selling cocaine base to an undercover officer on September 19, 2017. This was not Henderson’s first run-in with the law, as he has five felony convictions, several of which were drug-related, including one prior federal felony conviction.
At the time of the sale, Henderson was out on bond from a separate felony case involving a firearm. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration with assistance from the Mishawaka Police Department.
The case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank Schaffer. Henderson will also serve 3 years of supervised release after his prison term.
Henderson’s history of convictions and his decision to sell cocaine while out on bond demonstrate a blatant disregard for the law and a willingness to put himself and others at risk. This sentence should serve as a warning to others who would engage in such activity.
As the investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate, we will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle the networks that facilitate the distribution of illegal substances in our community.
