SIUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA – A Sioux Falls man has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for his role in a gun crime that put the community at risk.
On January 9, 2025, law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered Jericho James Ladeaux, 32, driving what they believed to be a stolen vehicle. During the stop, officers found Ladeaux in possession of a loaded pistol, which he is prohibited from carrying due to previous felony convictions.
Ladeaux was subsequently arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, a federal crime that carries serious penalties.
According to court documents, Ladeaux pleaded guilty to the charge on July 17, 2025, and was sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in federal prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release.
As part of the sentence, Ladeaux was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund and to forfeit the firearm and ammunition.
Ladeaux was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to begin serving his sentence.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing gun violence and making communities safer. The case was investigated by the Sioux Falls Police Department, the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Connie Larson prosecuting the case.
