Jesus Ochoa Aguirre, Illegal Reentry After Deportation, South Dakota 2013

A man from Mexico was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day of imprisonment for illegally reentering the United States after being deported.

Jesus Ochoa Aguirre, 30, was found to have reentered the country in the District of South Dakota on or about September 24, 2012, without the consent of the Secretary of the United States Department of Homeland Security and the Attorney General of the United States.

Ochoa Aguirre had been previously deported from the United States on or about April 16, 2010, and had not obtained the necessary consent to apply for admission into the country.

A Fort Pierre resident reported Ochoa Aguirre for trying to sell him methamphetamine, leading to his arrest.

The investigation was conducted by the Department of Homeland Security, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathryn N. Rich prosecuted the case.

Ochoa Aguirre pled guilty to the charge on July 8, 2013, and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on August 28, 2013.

Ochoa Aguirre was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
