Crack Cocaine Trafficking Lands Topeka Man 20 Years in Prison

A Topeka man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in a Junction City and Manhattan crack cocaine trafficking operation.

Johnny Lee Ivory, III, 29, was convicted in June of one count of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm following a felony conviction.

The investigation, led by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Junction City Police Department, uncovered a large crack cocaine trafficking organization in Junction City and Manhattan. Ivory supplied the organization with crack cocaine, which was then sold on the streets by co-defendants Albert Banks and Anthony Thompson.

Ivory’s co-defendants include Albert Dwayne Banks, 33, Junction City, Kan., who is set for sentencing on October 26; Martye Madabuti Madkins, III, 34, Junction City, Kan., set for sentencing on November 23; and Anthony Caryle Thompson, 33, Junction City, Kan., also set for sentencing on November 23.

U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom commended the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the Junction City Police Department, the Geary County Attorney’s Office, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Tony Mattivi for their work on the case.

Ivory’s 20-year sentence is a significant blow to the Junction City and Manhattan crack cocaine trafficking operation. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to disrupt and dismantle organized crime groups in the region.
