Johnston Man Jailed for Child Porn Possession

Nicholas Pislowski, 26, of Johnston, Rhode Island, has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for possessing more than 2,000 images of child pornography.

Pislowski pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography on May 8, 2014. At sentencing, U.S. District Court Chief Judge William E. Smith also ordered Pislowski to serve 5 years supervised release upon completion of his prison term.

In April 2012, members of the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a court-authorized search warrant for computers at Pislowski’s residence. A forensic examination of a laptop seized from Pislowski’s home resulted in the discovery of more than 2,200 videos and images depicting minor children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard W. Rose. The Rhode Island ICAC Task Force is comprised of members of the Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit along with detectives from several local police departments and special agents from Homeland Security Investigations and United States Postal Inspection Services.

Pislowski’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of child pornography. As our investigation revealed, the images and videos seized from Pislowski’s home are a stark reminder of the harm caused to these innocent children.
