BOSTON – A Boston-area man has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for his role in a violent gang.
Jonathan Darosa, a/k/a “Jeezy,” 32, of Boston, was sentenced by U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young to 57 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.
Darosa pleaded guilty in January 2025 to one count of conspiracy to participate in a racketeering enterprise (also known as RICO or racketeering conspiracy); one count of being a felon in possession of firearm and ammunition; one count of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute cocaine and oxycodone; and one count of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
The investigation identified Darosa as a member of Cameron Street, a violent gang based in the Dorchester section of Boston, which used violence and threats to preserve and expand its territory.
During a two-year investigation, law enforcement observed Darosa distributing cocaine and oxycodone to a cooperating witness on two separate occasions. Additionally, in an interaction with law enforcement, Darosa threatened officers.
Darosa was arrested after law enforcement recovered a Taurus 9 millimeter semi-automatic pistol containing 12 rounds of assorted 9 millimeter ammunition, including one round in the chamber, from his person in April 2021.
Darosa has been convicted on three prior occasions of unlawful possession of a firearm, including a 2016 conviction in Suffolk Superior Court for which he served a three-year prison sentence.
The case was announced by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley, James M. Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Feld Division, Stephen Belleau, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Field Division, and Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox.
Valuable assistance was provided by the Massachusetts State Police; Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office; Suffolk, Plymouth, Norfolk and Bristol County District Attorney’s Offices; and the Canton, Quincy, Randolph, Somerville, Brockton, Malden, Stoughton, Rehoboth and Pawtucket (R.I.) Police Departments.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Pohl and Charles Dell’Anno of the Narcotics & Money Laundering Unit are prosecuting the case.
