A shocking case of online exploitation has come to light in Gillette, Wyoming.
Jonathan Earl Olaveson, a resident of Gillette, Wyoming, has been convicted in federal court for attempting to entice a minor via online means for sexual purposes.
A two-day jury trial in the U.S. District Court in Casper found Olaveson guilty of the crime, which has sparked widespread concern among local law enforcement and community leaders.
The investigation into Olaveson’s activities was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, assisted by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations.
Olaveson is scheduled to be sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Skavdahl on April 10, 2014.
