Jorge Coronado Gonzalez, Child Pornography, California 2023

A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light in California, where a former Inglewood resident has been sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for producing child pornography.

Jorge Coronado Gonzalez, a 56-year-old Mexican national, pleaded guilty to producing child pornography on January 11. He admitted to coercing a 16-year-old girl to film sexually explicit videos of herself in January 2020.

According to court documents, Coronado Gonzalez had been sexually assaulting the victim, who was the daughter of a close friend, for approximately six years. He continued to exploit the victim even after relocating to Mexico, demanding that she send him sexualized photos and videos every day, backed by threats to kill her relatives.

Coronado Gonzalez was arrested in March 2020 at Los Angeles International Airport when he returned to the United States. Law enforcement was alerted to the longtime molestation after he posted one of the child pornography images to a social media platform, which led to the victim’s mother learning of the illicit conduct.

U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee described the conduct in this case as ‘reprehensible,’ ‘cruel,’ and ‘depraved.’ The victim’s emotional statement in court had a profound impact on the judge, who handed down the 15-year prison sentence.

Once he completes his prison sentence, Coronado Gonzalez will remain on supervised release for the rest of his life. The FBI investigated this matter, and Assistant United States Attorney Catharine A. Richmond prosecuted the case.
