Jose Arqimedes Guevera-Amaya, Re-entry of a Removed Alien, Pennsylvania 2012

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – In a shocking turn of events, Jose Arqimedes Guevera-Amaya, 30, of Altoona, Pa., has been sentenced to three months in prison for re-entering the United States after being deported.

According to court documents, Guevera-Amaya, a citizen of Mexico, was found in Blair County, Pennsylvania on Nov. 19, 2012, after being deported from the United States on Oct. 11, 2001. He had not received permission from the Attorney General of the United States or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to re-enter the country.

The case against Guevera-Amaya was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., on behalf of the government. U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton commended the Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Guevera-Amaya.

Guevera-Amaya’s sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson, who ordered the defendant to be immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation to Mexico.
