Jose Luis Mayorga-Lemus Pleads Guilty to Illegal Reentry in Louisiana
A 24-year-old Honduran man has pleaded guilty to illegally reentering the United States, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Louisiana.
Jose Luis Mayorga-Lemus was found in the United States on August 28, 2014, after having been officially deported and removed on August 3, 2011.
Mayorga-Lemus faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison and a fine of $250,000, or twice the gross gain to the defendant. He also faces one year of supervised release after imprisonment and a $100 special assessment.
U.S. District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle set sentencing for January 7, 2015.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite praised the work of the Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal in investigating this matter.
Assistant United States Attorney Spiro G. Latsis is in charge of the prosecution.
