Wilsonville Man Convicted of Child Pornography in Oregon
A federal jury in Portland, Oregon, found Joshan Rohani, 40, guilty of possessing and transporting child pornography. The verdict was reached on October 16, 2024, after a six-count indictment was returned by a federal grand jury.
Joshan Rohani was convicted of one count each of accessing with the intent to view and possessing child pornography, and three counts of transporting child pornography. The charges stem from an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) into a child pornography chatroom on the cloud storage service Mega.
According to court documents, Rohani created a user account on Mega in July 2021 and participated in at least 34 chats, some of which involved the sharing of child pornography. He also posted numerous links containing images and videos of child pornography, providing other members with access to view and download the files. The investigation revealed that Rohani had a previous account that had been suspended by Mega in 2019 due to suspected child pornography activity.
On May 24, 2022, HSI agents executed a search warrant at Rohani’s residence and seized numerous electronic devices and storage media. Investigators found child pornography on several of the devices seized from Rohani’s residence.
Rohani faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and a lifetime term of supervised release for each count. He will be sentenced on June 2, 2025, before U.S. District Court Judge Karin J. Immergut. The case was investigated by HSI with assistance from the Newberg-Dundee Police Department and New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs. It was prosecuted by Gary Y. Sussman and Mira Chernick, Assistant U.S. Attorneys for the District of Oregon.
