San Antonio Man Sentenced to 21 Years in Federal Prison for Methamphetamine Importation
A San Antonio man has been sentenced to 21 years in federal prison for his role in a major methamphetamine smuggling operation. Juan Antonio Lucha, 27, was sentenced to 260 months in prison for conspiracy to import methamphetamine.
According to court documents, Lucha was part of a drug smuggling organization that trafficked five kilograms of methamphetamine and 1,627 grams of fentanyl from Mexico into the United States. Lucha was arrested on June 27, 2020 at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
Lucha was charged in a four-count indictment in July 2020 with co-defendants Juan Sustaita Rodriguez and Natalie Andrea Vasquez. Lucha pleaded guilty on October 25, 2021 to one count of conspiracy to import methamphetamine.
Vasquez was sentenced to 300 months in federal prison on February 12, 2024 for one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Rodriguez pleaded guilty on January 28, 2021 to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and is scheduled to be sentenced on November 24, 2025.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Garland is prosecuting the case.
Acting U.S. Attorney Margaret Leachman for the Western District of Texas made the announcement. The sentencing of Lucha serves as a reminder of the severe consequences for those involved in methamphetamine trafficking.
