Feds Bust Meth Ring in Indiana, Charges 7 Individuals with Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
Terre Haute, IN – In a major crackdown on methamphetamine distribution, federal authorities have dismantled a conspiracy that spanned from Indianapolis to Lawrenceville, Illinois.
According to a indictment, Julius I. Weldon, a/k/a Joc, 41, of Indianapolis, was the source of supply, receiving methamphetamine from Arizona. The packages were delivered by UPS and FedEx to Weldon’s home in Indianapolis.
The indictment alleges that Weldon distributed his drugs to Shevockus L. Swing, a/k/a Vock, a/k/a Little Homie, 27, of Vincennes, IN; Jason Davis, a/k/a Big Homie, 32, of Bruceville, IN; and James T. Western, a/k/a Country, 46, of Lawrenceville, IL.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Indiana State Police, Illinois State Police, Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, Knox County Sheriff’s Department, and the Lawrence County Illinois Prosecutor’s Office.
Weldon remains a fugitive, but the other defendants had their initial appearance in federal court in Terre Haute on Friday, October 16, 2015, and were all detained. Their detention hearing is scheduled for October 21, 2015, at the Terre Haute Federal Courthouse.
According to Chief of the Drug and Violent Crime Unit Bradly A. Blackington, who is prosecuting this case for the government, all could face up to twenty years in prison if convicted.
