KALIQUE HARDIN, a 22-year-old from Dallas, Texas, has been locked up for his role in a heroin and firearms trafficking operation in Louisiana. The U.S. Attorney’s office announced the guilty plea in a statement.
HARDIN was arrested on February 8, 2016, by Louisiana State Police troopers in a vehicle parked in a lot in the 1000 block of Bienville Street.
The vehicle was packed with guns, heroin, and over $11,000 in cash. One of the guns found was a Ruger 9mm pistol with an extended magazine containing 24 live rounds.
HARDIN faces 20 years imprisonment on the heroin charges and a mandatory five-year prison term on the firearms count. The two sentences will run consecutively.
Two other suspects, Lilbear George and Sidney LeBanks, are still awaiting trial in the case. George is also facing charges for the December 18, 2015, murder of a security guard at a Chase Bank in New Orleans.
The guilty plea was announced by U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans, who praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Louisiana State Police in investigating the case.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael E. McMahon. HARDIN’s status is still pending sentencing.
