Kansas Man Sentenced 300 Months for Child Porn Distribution
A 38-year-old man from Pittsburg, Kansas, has been sentenced to 300 months in prison for distributing child pornography, according to authorities.
Jason Wayne Irving was found guilty of distributing child pornography in a February plea deal, in which he pleaded guilty to one count of Distribution of Child Pornography.
According to court documents, Irving admitted to uploading and sending pornographic photos of children through his email address in 2019. Google detected the activity and notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Cyber Tip Line.
The images in question show children being forced to engage in sexual acts with adults. Following the initial detection, Google reported the email account again for similar conduct, which led to the linking of the account to Irving.
A search warrant was subsequently obtained for Irving’s smartphone, which revealed that it had been used for the operation of the Google email account as well as other accounts that had been reported by Facebook for child pornography. Law enforcement also discovered various files of child pornography on the phone.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigation, Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Wichita Police Department, and Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Hart prosecuted the case.
Irving’s sentence is a result of his guilty plea and the evidence presented during the investigation. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting suspicious online activity and the consequences of distributing child pornography.
