Karson Williams, Aiding and Abetting Oxyomorphine Distribution, West Virginia 2014

Huntington, West Virginia – A sting operation has led to the downfall of a local oxyomorphine dealer, with Karson Williams, 21, of Charleston, pleading guilty to aiding and abetting the distribution of oxyomorphine in federal court.

According to court documents, Williams admitted to selling a 40 mg oxyomorphine pill, commonly known as ‘Opana’, to a confidential informant working with law enforcement for $80.00 on January 14, 2014, at 21A Balies Drive in Nitro, West Virginia.

Williams’ accomplice, Bridgette Kelly, previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute oxyomorphine and is set to be sentenced on September 14, 2015.

The residence where the transaction took place was leased by Jennifer Russell, who also entered a guilty plea to knowingly maintaining a residence for the purpose of distributing oxyomorphine and faces up to 20 years imprisonment.

Williams faces up to 20 years imprisonment when he is sentenced on December 7, 2015, by Chief United States District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers.

The cases were investigated by the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team, with the prosecution being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Monica D. Coleman.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, joined by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, is committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down illegal pill trafficking, eliminating open air drug markets, and curtailing the spread of opiate painkillers and heroin in communities across the Southern District.

Both Williams and Russell are scheduled to be sentenced on December 7, 2015. The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the ongoing effort to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs and heroin in the Southern District of West Virginia.
