Keith J. Bleau, Receiving and Possessing Child Pornography, New York 2024

A local man has been charged with receiving and possessing child pornography in a shocking case out of Johnsonville, New York.

Keith J. Bleau, age 51, was arrested on Tuesday on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography. Today, Bleau appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Stewart and was detained pending trial.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Vadim D. Thomas, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The criminal complaint alleges that between May 16, 2012 and May 16, 2017, Bleau used a peer-to-peer file sharing program and the Internet to download multiple child pornography movies.

The charges in the complaint are merely accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

If convicted of all charges, Bleau faces at least 5 years and up to 20 years in prison, post-imprisonment supervised release of at least 5 years and up to life, and a maximum $250,000 fine. Sentences are imposed by a judge based on the particular statute the defendant is charged with violating, the United States Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.

The case is being investigated by the FBI and the New York State Police, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Belliss.
