Stephen Nicholas Westcott, Child Porn Distribution, Maryland 2024

Baltimore, MD – A Maryland man is facing a litany of federal charges after being indicted for child sexual exploitation and distribution of child porn. Stephen Nicholas Westcott, 35, from Kennedyville, was arrested in Michigan after fleeing Maryland to evade arrest.

The 13-count indictment alleges that Westcott produced sexually explicit images of a minor under the age of five and communicated child sexual abuse materials on platforms like Snapchat, Discord, and Telegram. He also maintains a collection of such materials on his electronic devices.

U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes announced the charges along with officials from the FBI, ATF, and Maryland State Police. If convicted, Westcott could face up to 30 years in federal prison for sexual exploitation of a child and 20 years for each count of distribution of child pornography.

This investigation is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Colleen E. McGuinn is handling the prosecution of this case.

Westcott is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The community is encouraged to learn more about internet safety and resources available through justice.gov/psc.
