Lexington, KY — Patsy Wardle, a 65-year-old Richmond resident, faced justice this week after being convicted by a federal jury for her role in an oxycodone trafficking ring. The jury returned its verdict on Wednesday, April 24, following a three-day trial in U.S. District Court.
According to trial testimony, Wardle and her co-conspirators Shannon Allen, Bianca Pennington, Malik Chapman, and others, operated a distribution network that spanned Richmond and surrounding areas. Chapman was tasked with transporting the pills from Detroit, while Allen and Pennington distributed them to local dealers. Wardle’s primary point of operation was her Richmond home.
Wardle’s co-defendants Shannon Allen, Bianca Pennington, Malik Chapman, Robert May, Doug Mayfield, Ryan Jones, Alyssa Parrish, and Victoria Grimes all pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute oxycodone before the trial. Wardle is set for sentencing on August 29 at the federal courthouse in Lexington.
The group faces maximum sentences of 20 years each. Wardle’s sentence will be determined after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and applicable federal statutes, officials announced.
The conviction was a joint effort by several law enforcement agencies including the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, DEA Louisville Field Division, Kentucky State Police, Richmond Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Department, and Berea Police Department.
