New Orleans, Louisiana – Kevin Tyler II, also known as ‘City’, has been handed down a 170-month sentence for his involvement in a massive cocaine conspiracy. The 48-year-old New Orleans resident pleaded guilty to charges including conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.
The court documents reveal that Tyler, along with other co-conspirators, were involved in distributing and possessing multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine within the Eastern District of Louisiana. In addition, Tyler transported significant amounts of cocaine and proceeds from drug sales as part of the conspiracy.
This case was investigated by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), an intelligence-driven task force aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations. The DEA – New Orleans Field Division Office led the investigation with support from various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Assistant United States Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman of the Narcotics Unit is handling the prosecution.
Following his conviction, Tyler was sentenced to 170 months imprisonment, five years of supervised release, and a $200 mandatory special assessment fee. This sentence sends a clear message that federal authorities will not tolerate drug trafficking in their communities.
The harsh penalty comes as a stark reminder of the ongoing fight against organized crime and drug trafficking in New Orleans and across the United States. For more information on OCDETF and its efforts, visit Justice.gov/OCDETF.
