A 36-year-old Newark, New Jersey resident and three residents of Duquesne, Pennsylvania, each received a nine-month prison sentence and three years of supervised release for their convictions on Contempt of Court charges, Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song announced.

United States District Judge Reggie B. Walton imposed the sentence on Khayri Battle, Shane Brooks, 30, Victoria Morgan, 32, and Bobby Rodgers, 48, all of Duquesne, Pennsylvania.

The defendants refused to testify during the trial of Anthony Pryor and Lance Yarbough, who were charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute heroin, despite a written order compelling them to testify following a grant of immunity from United States District Court Judge Reggie B. Walton.

Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

Acting United States Attorney Song commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation that led to the successful prosecution of the defendants.

The case was the result of a thorough investigation by the FBI.

As a result of their actions, the defendants will face time in prison, a harsh reminder of the consequences of refusing to cooperate with the law.
