Kison Robertson, 45, Accused of Attempted Murder in South Dakota
A Porcupine, South Dakota man has been charged with Attempted Murder after a violent incident left a male victim seriously injured.
According to the indictment, Kison Robertson, 45, used a firearm to attempt to murder a male on March 30, 2017, at Porcupine, South Dakota. Robertson also allegedly used the firearm to assault the male and his son, resulting in serious bodily injury to the male victim.
The indictment includes charges of Attempted Murder, two counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Discharge of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime of Violence.
Robertson appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Daneta Wollmann on April 14, 2017, and pleaded not guilty to the Indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is life imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine, 5 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
The investigation is being conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services, the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman is prosecuting the case.
Robertson was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has been set for June 6, 2017.
