Tacoma – In a major blow to drug trafficking operations in Tacoma, eight members of the Knoccout Crips street gang have been indicted on federal charges for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. This comes after an 18-month investigation and a coordinated law enforcement operation that resulted in the arrest of nine individuals.
Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller announced the indictments, which followed the execution of 13 search warrants and the seizure of substantial quantities of fentanyl, marijuana, firearms, and cash. Five others were arrested on Complaints based on firearms and narcotics found during searches of their residences and cars.
The investigation, led by the FBI’s South Sound Safe Streets Gang Task Force, revealed a drug trafficking ring that had been operating for over a year. Law enforcement officials tracked the activities of the gang members, seizing kilogram quantities of fentanyl pills and powder from checked luggage at Sea-Tac airport. The wiretap evidence revealed the extent of the conspiracy, with drug mules attempting to transport fentanyl from Arizona to Tacoma.
The FBI’s South Sound Safe Streets Gang Task Force, in collaboration with more than a dozen partner law enforcement agencies, conducted the large-scale takedown targeting violent criminal street gangs involved in drug distribution and other violent crimes. The operation was part of Operation Summer Heat, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating violent criminals and restoring safety in communities.
The defendants, including Bryant K Moss Jr, Gary Williams, Dominique Woods, Joshua Logsdon, Michael Lewis, Dallas Martin, Josaphina Diaz, Forest Neal, and Genesis Moreau, are charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. They also face specific charges for possession and distribution of fentanyl between March 2024 and April 2025.
Additional arrests were made based on probable cause established in yesterday’s search warrants. The investigation led to the seizure of over 34 kg of fentanyl, 45 kg of marijuana, 9 firearms, and $111,524.25 in cash. Due to the quantity of drugs seized, some defendants face a mandatory minimum ten years in prison if convicted.
