Washington – The grim streets of Knox Place SE in Southeast D.C. were the scene of a major setback for drug trafficking as Matthew Green, 31, was sentenced on October 7 to 100 months in federal prison. The district’s U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the sentence, which stems from Green’s possession of a Glock 19 pistol while distributing narcotics.
Green pleaded guilty on July 8, 2025, to charges including possession with intent to distribute PCP, cocaine base, and marijuana, as well as possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking offense. The judge also ordered Green to serve three years of supervised release following his prison term.
The investigation began in the summer of 2024 when FBI agents zeroed in on a drug trafficking conspiracy based around Knox Place SE. They identified Green as a supplier for an alleged fentanyl and PCP trafficker who had a stash house in the area.
On December 16, 2024, an undercover officer met with the trafficker at a Knox Place apartment building. The trafficker directed Green to hand over several vials of PCP, which Green initially intended to pass on to the trafficker but ultimately recognized as an undercover officer.
In a separate incident, responding Metropolitan Police Department officers stopped Green in response to a 911 caller’s report of someone pointing a gun at cars. Officers recovered the firearm from Green’s pocket, along with significant amounts of crack cocaine, PCP, marijuana, and suspected ‘lean’—a concoction of prescription cough syrup and soda.
This case was a collaborative effort between the FBI Washington Field Office, DEA Washington Division, and the Metropolitan Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew W. Kinskey, John Crabb, Jr., John Parron, and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Sitara Witanachchi prosecuted the case.
