Billings Man Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison for Distributing Child Pornography

A Billings man has been sentenced to 108 months in prison for distributing child pornography.

Kole David Kuntz, 41, pleaded guilty in July 2025 to two counts of distribution of child pornography.

The case began when law enforcement created an undercover online persona on a social media site posing as an adult male with a minor daughter. Kuntz, who was identified as the individual communicating with the undercover persona, sent a video of a female, between the ages of 12 and 14, removing her swimsuit and exposing her vagina to the camera.

On November 22, 2024, Kuntz distributed a roughly 56-second video of a minor female performing oral sex on an adult. Law enforcement connected the communications to Kuntz and searched his residence in Billings, discovering additional child pornography.

Kuntz was interviewed by law enforcement and admitted to being the individual referenced in the communications. He will serve 108 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zeno Baucus prosecuted the case, and the FBI conducted the investigation.
