Kyla Nicole Forbes, a 47-year-old woman from Marshalltown, Iowa, and Malcolm Dewayne Alexander, a 46-year-old man from Greenville, Mississippi, have been sentenced to a combined 20 years in federal prison for their roles in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.
According to court documents, the pair was stopped by an Arkansas State Police trooper on March 13, 2021, for a traffic violation. The trooper subsequently conducted a search of the vehicle, which yielded 10 bundles of methamphetamine weighing a total of 6.3 kilograms.
The methamphetamine was discovered inside a black duffle bag located in the trunk of the vehicle, as well as a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine and an open syringe in the center console.
Kyla Nicole Forbes was sentenced to 120 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release on October 6, 2021. Malcolm Dewayne Alexander was sentenced to the same term on September 16, 2021.
The investigation into the case was led by the Arkansas State Police, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Tyler Williams prosecuted the case, with Acting U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes announcing the sentence.
The case highlights the ongoing struggle against methamphetamine trafficking in the region, with authorities continuing to crack down on those involved in the production and distribution of the deadly substance.
