A Gloucester man, Kyle Jacob Buquor, 26, has been sentenced to five years in prison for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. This sentence was handed down on July 15, 2024, by U.S. District Judge Roderick C. Young.

Buquor was arrested on July 15, 2024, when a K9 positively alerted for narcotics in his pickup truck as law enforcement conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle. He was detained when he returned to the vehicle and a probable cause search revealed a handgun, three loaded magazines, an empty magazine, 11.5 grams of methamphetamine, and various items indicative of drug trafficking.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Division, and the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement after sentencing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Devon Heath prosecuted the case. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through community-based enforcement.
