Kyle Woman Sentenced for Marijuana Conspiracy
A 38-year-old woman from Kyle, South Dakota, has been sentenced for her role in a marijuana conspiracy that spanned over four years.
Stephanie Standing Soldier was sentenced to 16 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The conviction stems from Standing Soldier conspiring with others to distribute at least 100 kilograms or more of marijuana on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation between 2008 and 2012.
Standing Soldier pleaded guilty to the charge on April 30, 2013, and has been in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service since then.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ted L. McBride prosecuted the case, bringing the conspirators to justice for their role in the marijuana trafficking operation.
The sentence handed down to Standing Soldier serves as a reminder of the severity of marijuana trafficking and the consequences of involvement in such activities.
Standing Soldier’s case is a stark reminder that law enforcement is committed to disrupting and dismantling marijuana trafficking operations in the region.
