Lackawanna Man Sentenced to 27 Months for Crack Cocaine Sales

BUFFALO, N.Y.–A Lackawanna man was sentenced to 27 months in prison for selling crack cocaine in the area, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today.

Kenneth Sweat, 26, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute and distribute crack cocaine after selling 36 grams of the substance to a confidential source on February 18, 2013 and February 25, 2013, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney John M. Alsup.

The sales were part of a larger investigation into crack cocaine trafficking in the area, led by the Lackawanna Police Department under the direction of Chief James Michel, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of James J. Hunt, Acting Special Agent in Charge, New York Field Division.

The investigation was a joint effort between the two agencies, which worked together to identify and apprehend individuals involved in the sale and distribution of crack cocaine in the area.

Sweat’s sentencing is the culmination of this investigation, and serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in illegal drug trafficking.

The case is a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement officials in the area, who continue to work tirelessly to keep their communities safe from crime.

U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara presided over the sentencing, which was handed down on [date].
