Latricia Hope Haynes Moliere, PPP Loan Fraud, Louisiana 2021

New Orleans, Louisiana – The grim saga of fraud in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) continues as Latricia Hope Haynes Moliere, 51, from LaPlace, Louisiana, was sentenced to three years of probation for making false statements to the Small Business Administration (SBA).

According to court documents, Moliere submitted a fraudulent application for PPP loan in March 2021. She falsely claimed ownership of a baking sole proprietorship with an average monthly payroll of $8,041. To support her claim, she attached a fake Internal Revenue Service Form 1040 Schedule C.

Moliere later filed for bankruptcy under the guise that she was not a sole proprietor. Despite this contradiction, she received $20,102 from the SBA, which was forgiven based on false statements about how the funds were used.

United States District Judge Eldon E. Fallon handed down the sentence of three years’ probation and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100. Moliere also agreed to pay restitution in the amount of $22,742.71 to the SBA.

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson commended the efforts of the United States Secret Service and the United States Trustee for their work on this case. Assistant United States Attorney Maria M. Carboni of the Financial Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution.
