A Fayette County man has been accused of violating federal narcotics laws after a grand jury indictment.
Larry Diggs, 67, of Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, is facing a single count of violating federal narcotics laws following the unsealing of a federal indictment on August 25.
The indictment alleges that on or about March 3, 2021, Diggs possessed with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, a serious offense that carries severe penalties.
The law provides for a minimum of five years and a maximum of 40 years in prison, along with a fine of up to $5,000,000 or both. The actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorneys Yvonne M. Saadi and Jonathan D. Lusty are prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police, as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation.
OCDETF targets high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten communities throughout the United States.
An indictment is an accusation, and Diggs is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
