Methamphetamine Conspiracy Rocks Marion, South Dakota

A 37-year-old Marion man, Larry Wayne Alver, has been brought to justice for his role in a massive methamphetamine conspiracy. U.S. District Court Judge Karen E. Schreier handed down the sentence on December 30, 2013.

Alver was found guilty of Conspiracy to Distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, a serious offense that has wreaked havoc on communities across the nation.

According to court documents, Alver was involved in purchasing and distributing methamphetamine, as well as introducing his source of supply to another dealer. This brazen behavior earned him a 120-month sentence in custody, followed by 5 years of supervised release.

Alver was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund, a small price to pay for the harm caused by his actions.

The case was investigated by the Sioux Falls Police Department, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney John E. Haak prosecuted the case, bringing Alver to justice.

Following the sentencing, Alver was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service, where he will serve out his sentence. This case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of engaging in methamphetamine-related activities.
