Las Vegas law enforcement has scored a significant victory with the arrest of Justin Pham, 30, who was indicted for illegal possession of machine guns and unregistered firearm suppressors. According to U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Trutanich, Pham’s initial appearance in federal court on September 4, 2020, marked the start of his trial scheduled for November 3, 2020.
Pham is accused of modifying three Glock semi-automatic firearms to fire fully automatically without reloading, and possessing five unregistered firearm silencers. The indictment reveals that Pham had converted these firearms using 3-D printed Glock switches. Authorities executed a search warrant at his residence and vehicle, where they discovered the modified guns, suppressors, additional firearms and parts, ammunition, and a 3-D printer.
Pham faces up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each of the charges against him. He has been charged with one count of illegal possession of a machine gun and two counts of possessing an unregistered firearm. The investigation was a collaborative effort by HSI, ATF, LVMPD, FBI, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
This case is part of Project Guardian, the Department of Justice’s initiative to combat gun violence, which coordinates federal, state, local, and tribal authorities in investigating and prosecuting firearms-related crimes. Pham also faces charges filed by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office on behalf of the State of Nevada.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Ihler is handling the prosecution, while an anonymous tipster’s information led to Pham’s arrest. The Department of Justice encourages the public to learn more about Project Guardian and its efforts to keep communities safe at this link.
