Omaha Man Sentenced for Cocaine and Firearm Charges

Omaha, NE – Lashannon Bland, 41, of Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 78 months in the Bureau of Prisons for possessing with the intent to distribute cocaine and the possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Acting United States Attorney Jan Sharp announced the sentencing, which took place on an unspecified date. Bland will begin a five-year term of supervised release following his release from prison. There is no parole in the federal system.

Bland was arrested on January 17, 2020, after a Crime Stoppers tip alleged that he had guns and drugs at his Omaha residence, which also had children present. A subsequent search of the residence revealed a padlocked bedroom containing two handguns, two clear bags of cocaine, digital scales, and marijuana.

Bland gave a statement admitting to possessing the firearms and narcotics as well as selling narcotics. The case is part of Project Guardian, the federal initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws.

The United States Attorney’s Office has prosecuted this case with support from the Omaha Police Department, a partner in the Project Guardian program.
