Don F. Lindner, Filing Fraudulent Tax Returns, Maryland 2015

Baltimore, Maryland – The grimy details of a tax fraud scandal have emerged as 61-year-old Maryland attorney Don F. Lindner, hailing from Severna Park, pleaded guilty to filing fraudulent tax returns.

The plea agreement was announced by U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein and IRS Special Agent in Charge Thomas J. Kelly, underscoring the severity of tax fraud. ‘As tax season approaches, this case should be a stark reminder of the consequences of tax fraud,’ Rosenstein warned.

Lindner, who practiced law in Glen Burnie, omitted $1,230,614 from his law practice’s gross receipts on his 2007 and 2011 tax returns. Additionally, he falsely claimed over $82,700 in rental property repairs, where no repairs were actually made, further underreporting taxable income.

The attorney has agreed to pay restitution of $341,730 to the IRS for the years in question. He faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a fine of $250,000, with sentencing scheduled for May 13, 2015.

Rosenstein commended the IRS-Criminal Investigation’s efforts in this case and thanked Assistant U.S. Attorney David I. Sharfstein for his prosecution.
