Lazaro Alfredo Ramirez-Alvarado, Gun and Cocaine Trafficking, Florida 2021

Miami, Florida – In a shocking turn of events, Lazaro Alfredo Ramirez-Alvarado, a 37-year-old West Palm Beach man, has been denied bond for his involvement in a federal gun and cocaine trafficking operation. According to allegations in the criminal complaint affidavit, Ramirez-Alvarado sold cocaine to others between March and July 2021.

On July 8, law enforcement arrested Ramirez-Alvarado, who attempted to sell cocaine to undercover agents. As a result, authorities seized over 500 grams of cocaine, two firearms, and a suitcase filled with more than $870,000 in cash. The discovery of these illicit items was a significant blow to Ramirez-Alvarado’s operation.

A South Florida federal magistrate judge ordered pre-trial detention for Ramirez-Alvarado, citing concerns that he posed a risk of flight and danger to the community if released. This decision means that Ramirez-Alvarado will remain in jail, without bond, as he awaits his trial on charges of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking and possession with intent to sell cocaine.

The investigation into Ramirez-Alvarado’s operation involved a collaborative effort between DEA Miami, FBI Miami, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Adam McMichael and Brian Ralston are handling the prosecution of this case.

Ramirez-Alvarado’s arrest and subsequent denial of bond sends a strong message to those involved in gun and cocaine trafficking. The consequences of such crimes can be severe, and law enforcement agencies will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.
