Lincoln Woman Sentenced for Methamphetamine Conspiracy
A Lincoln woman has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for her involvement in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Tiffany Lynn Lafond, 37, was handed the sentence on January 7, 2013, by United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg.
According to authorities, Lafond was responsible for the distribution of at least 500 grams (approximately 18 ounces) of methamphetamine in the Lincoln area between June of 2010 and March of 2012. Her involvement in the conspiracy was uncovered through information provided to law enforcement, which led to her arrest and subsequent sentencing.
Lafond’s sentence also includes five years of supervised release following her prison term. The investigation into Lafond’s activities was led by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force, which consists of officers from the Lincoln Police Department, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department.
The task force’s efforts to dismantle Lafond’s methamphetamine operation are a testament to their dedication to keeping Lincoln streets safe from the scourge of narcotics. As the city continues to grapple with the problems associated with methamphetamine use, cases like Lafond’s serve as a reminder of the consequences of involvement in the illicit drug trade.
Residents of Lincoln can take comfort in knowing that law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to combat the flow of illicit substances into the community. By taking down high-level distributors like Lafond, these agencies are making a significant impact in the fight against methamphetamine.
As Lafond begins her 10-year sentence, Lincoln residents can rest a little easier knowing that one less player in the methamphetamine trade is off the streets. However, the war on methamphetamine is far from over, and continued vigilance is necessary to keep our communities safe.
