A New York woman’s scheme to line her pockets with millions has been exposed. Nydira Adams, aka ‘Nadira Adams-McMillan,’ preyed on vulnerable borrowers, selling them false hope of wiping out $5 million in federal student loan debt through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
From March 2023 to January 2025, Adams touted herself as the ‘Student Loan Default Guru’ and operated a business with the same name. But instead of helping people, she used misrepresentations and false statements to deceive the US Department of Education.
Adams’ victims paid her thousands for her services, only to find out they were scammed. The Education Department would then forgive the loans, with Adams pocketing the cash. This brazen scheme left taxpayers footing the bill for Adams’ greed.
US Attorney Jay Clayton called Adams out, saying, ‘Her greed cost an important federal program over $5 million.’ Adams faces the music after her guilty plea in a New York court. The US Department of Education and law enforcement agencies are working to recover the stolen funds.
